Elian

While I'd thought of stepping outside my land before, I'd never actually made a plan to do it, especially anytime soon. But if it helped to protect my land, I would.

I didn't want to keep my land because I liked owning it, but because it was an important part of Mistvale. All the trees and little animals in this park depended on me to keep them safe and healthy, and I had no doubts that whoever wanted this land had no plans of letting my flora live. They probably wanted to destroy the park and build something in its place. Something full of concrete and devoid of greenery. I couldn't allow that to happen.

"It won't hurt if you did, but you don't have to. You know that, right?" Alden asked, and I smiled at him. It was sweet how worried he was, but this was my problem to deal with. I appreciated his help, of course, and Raiden's too. I wasn't going to stop him from doing whatever he wanted to do to help, but this wasn't on him. I was going to talk to whoever this person was, and I was going to inform them the Silent Creek Park was not for sale.

"How about this? I'll find out who the buyer is and set up a meeting with them. I'll let you both know the time and place, and you can decide if you both want to go or not. Would you like me to be there?" Raiden asked, and I thought about it for a minute before nodding. Raiden was a dragon, and the one who watched over this town. I didn't think any supe would want to be on his bad side, and that could work in our favor.

"Don't worry, okay? Everything will be fine. We won't let anyone take your land from you," Raiden said, and Alden squeezed my hand.

"Yeah. You have the whole clan at your back. You have absolutely nothing to worry about," Alden said, and there wasn't a shred of doubt in his voice.

Smiling up at him, I leaned into his side, letting myself relax now that we had a plan.

Raiden pulled his phone out of his pocket and checked something before looking up at us. "I need to get going. I'll text you the details as soon as I get them."

"Sounds good. Thank you for helping," I said, and Raiden smiled.

"You're part of the family now, Elian. Of course I'd help. Let me know if you need anything. Have a good day, both of you."

Alden and I walked Raiden to the park's entrance, and then made our way to our clearing.

"Would you like to spend some time in our true forms? You don't have to talk if you don't want to," Alden asked, and I smiled. How did he know just the right thing to suggest?

"Yes, please," I said, and between one moment and the next, Alden was a beautiful, regal-looking unicorn.

Stepping close to him, I ran my palm over his warm, silky coat, and ran the fingers of my other hand through his colorful hair.
